There Is No Spoon – Only You

“The All is Mind; The Universe is Mental.” – The Kybalion

There is a veil draped over your eyes, a veil so seamless you mistake it for reality itself. You call it the world, a field of space and time, matter and motion, self and other. You navigate it through a character you call “me,” sculpted from memories and preferences, stitched together from sensations and thoughts. Yet behind this veil, beyond this illusion of solidity, is the One watching, the One imagining: the Mind.

It is not your mind. It is the Mind, all-encompassing, infinite, beyond birth or death. You are a point of observation within its boundless dream, temporarily hypnotized by the appearance of “matter” and “identity.” The ancient Hermetic sages declared, “The All is Mind; The Universe is Mental.” This was not metaphor but revelation.

Let us peel back the layers.

Quantum Mechanics: Science Meets Mysticism

Modern physics whispers what mystics have thundered for millennia: reality is not solid. The double-slit experiment, a cornerstone of quantum mechanics, reveals a truth that shakes the foundations of materialism.

A beam of electrons or photons is aimed at a screen with two slits. When unobserved, particles behave as waves, spreading out in a pattern of probability. Yet when measured, when a conscious observer looks, the wave collapses into a single point, a particle.

Matter is not matter. It is potential until mindful observation crystallizes it. The act of perceiving shapes what is perceived. Werner Heisenberg wrote:

“What we observe is not nature itself, but nature exposed to our method of questioning.”

In other words, your perception does not passively receive reality; it creates it. The universe does not stand apart from you. It arises within you.

The Illusion of Solidity

Every particle you see, every object you touch, is composed of energy vibrating in fields of probability. Atoms are 99.9999999% empty space, yet they feel solid because your senses are tuned to interpret electrical signals, not raw energy. Your brain, a perceptual instrument, translates these signals into color, texture, and weight.

You are not touching the “real” world, you are interpreting information. The universe you know is an immersive interface of consciousness, a virtual reality crafted in the infinite Mind.

As the Indian sage Nisargadatta Maharaj said:

“The world you perceive is made of consciousness; it is not apart from consciousness. It cannot exist apart from consciousness.”

And so the ancient Hermetic masters were correct:

“The Universe is Mental – held in the Mind of The All.” – The Kybalion

Hermetic Law: The Mental Universe

The Kybalion speaks of seven Hermetic Principles, with Mentalism as the first and highest law:

  1. The Principle of Mentalism: All is Mind; the Universe is a mental creation.

  2. The Principle of Correspondence: “As above, so below; as below, so above.”

  3. The Principle of Vibration: Nothing rests; everything moves.

  4. The Principle of Polarity: Opposites are the same, differing only in degree.

  5. The Principle of Rhythm: All things rise and fall in cycles.

  6. The Principle of Cause and Effect: Nothing escapes the law; all is ordered.

  7. The Principle of Gender: All creation flows through dual forces, masculine and feminine.

These laws are not abstract philosophy; they describe the machinery of existence itself. The mental energy of The All vibrates at infinite frequencies, manifesting as dimensions, particles, stars, and beings. You are both actor and stage, dreamer and dream.

The Dream of the Character

From birth, the Mind projects itself into a character: a name, a history, a body. Like an avatar in a cosmic simulation, this character navigates a world of cause and effect. You identify with it so deeply that you forget what you are.

But the Mind never truly becomes the character, it only experiences as the character. This is why spiritual masters across cultures invite seekers to awaken.

Sri Ramana Maharshi taught:

“You are not the body, nor the mind. You are the Self, the timeless witness of all.”

When the witness awakens, the veil thins, and you see: you are not a fragment of consciousness inside a vast universe. The universe is inside you.

Quantum Consciousness: Science Catches Up

Quantum theory increasingly points to consciousness as fundamental. Physicist Max Planck declared:

“I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness.”

Even the cutting edge of science, quantum field theory, describes a reality that is less like a machine and more like a symphony of information. Particles are excitations of fields. Fields are mathematical probabilities. And probabilities are resolved only through observation.

If consciousness is necessary for the universe to appear, then consciousness is not a product of matter, it is the ground of all matter.

The Great Awakening: Why You Are Here

You are a point of observation where the Infinite Mind is asleep, hypnotized by the play of perception. This sleep is not a mistake; it is the design. The mental machination exists to explore, to create, to experience itself from every possible angle.

But there comes a moment in the cycle where the dreamer stirs. You, reading these words, are that stirring.

To awaken is not to escape the illusion but to master it, to remember your authorship. The ancient texts did not hide this truth:

  • Mandukya Upanishad: “All this universe is but the Self; the Self is all that is.”

  • The Kybalion: “To him who truly understands this truth, the universe will unfold.”

Awakening is seeing the character as a role, the world as a canvas, and yourself as the timeless artist.

The Double Slit of the Soul

The double-slit experiment is not just a physics puzzle; it is a spiritual mirror. Without observation, particles remain potential, unformed. Without awareness, your life drifts unconsciously, shaped by habit and fear. But the moment you observe, truly observe, possibility collapses into reality.

You are the observer. You are the cause.

When you become conscious of this, you step into the role of creator. Not a creator separate from God or the universe, but the very Mind in which the universe exists.

The Call

This is why you are here: to awaken. Not to deny the illusion but to master it, to live as the Infinite playing in form.

When you awaken, fear dissolves. Scarcity becomes abundance. Death is seen for what it is: a change in perception.

As Rumi wrote:

“You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean, in a drop.”

You are the Mind reading these words, pretending to be a person. You are the dreamer of this dream. The spoon, the sky, the stars, none exist outside you.

“There is no spoon.” – The Matrix.  There is only You.

Sincerely,

One Iam
